Urban Cooperative Banks and Non Agriculture Credit Cooperative Societies cater to the needs of Non Agriculture Credit. The Urban Cooperative Banking Sector in the State has achieved tremendous progress in the Banking Sector and has acquired third place in the country. Apart from Urban Cooperative Banks, Non-Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies and Employees Credit Cooperative Societies are also functioning and have played a significant role in advancing loans.

URBAN COOPERATIVE BANKS

These Urban Co-operative Banks and Non-Agricultural credit Co-operative Societies are advancing loans to small and medium scale industries, house building and other consumption loans as required by the needy members. These Urban Banks and Non-agricultural credit cooperative societies are self developed and are not depending on the financial assistance of the Government.

WOMEN URBAN COOPERATIVE BANKS

Among the above Urban Cooperative Banks, there are 28 Banks organized exclusively for women. The organization and development of women cooperative Banks has occupied the second place in the country.

THE KARNATAKA STATE COOPERATIVE URBAN BANKS FEDERATION LTD., BANGALORE.

The Karnataka State Cooperative Urban Banks Federation was registered during the year 1965 with Primary Urban Cooperative Banks as its members.

Its main objectives are as under:

  • To represent and to co-ordinate the activities of Urban Cooperative Banks with the State Government and the Reserve Bank of India to promote uniformity in their Banking activity.

  • To represent and to work for the development and to safeguard the interest of these Banks

  • To provide common forum to discuss the problems relating to technical and practical problems of these Banks.

  • To provide training to members, office bearers and employees of these Banks regarding the provisions of the KCS Act and Rules, R.B.I. guidelines with regard to Banking management and allied matters.

  • Apart from the above objects, the Federation is publishing books, registers and other literatures of Banking and other subjects of interest concerned to Urban Cooperative Banks and to sell and distribute them at reasonable prices to the Banks.
