The processing cooperatives have been organized with a view to passing on the benefit of processing to the producer farmers. They have been organized for processing various commodities and include cotton ginning, oil crushing, paddy processing, rice mills, super factories, fruit and vegetable processing units etc.

COMARK

COMARK is a Multi-State Co-operative Society registered in the year 1992 under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act 1984. The area of operation of the Society is in the States of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu.

Objectives of the Society:

  • To procure, process and market Coffee. Cardamom and other agricultural/plantation produces of the members and if necessary from any other sources or agency basis, or on outright purchases basis to ensure better services and marketing facilities of the members.

  • To establish processing units for processing of Coffee, Cardamom and other products.
  • To export coffee, Cardamom and other agricultural produces and products.

Share Capital and Membership:

The share capital of the Society from the members stood at Rs.394.02 lakhs as on 31-3-2011. The total number of members of the Society as on 31-3-2011 was 5293 including co-operative societies.

The Share capital received from the Government of Karnataka, under NCDC was Rs 200.00lakhs.

The accumulated loss as on 31-3-2011 is Rs. 1254.43 lakhs.

RUBBER MARKETING AND PROCESSING COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES LTD., MANGALORE,D.K.DISTRICT

The Rubber Marketing and Processing Co-operative Society is registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 1984 on 20/08/1998.
The main objective of the society is the centralized purchase of Rubber from the members for the purpose of processing and marketing the same. To arrange, produce, manufacture, refine, prepare, process, import and export and other wise deal in forms of natural and synthetic rubber and all products. Collecting rubber sheets from small farmers and other rubber producing Co-operative societies and selling the same to big consumers like Tyre Factories. Buying inputs in bulk from actual manufacturers and distributing the same to the members, are the other objectives of this society.

THE KARNATAKA COOPERATIVE OIL SEEDS GROWER'S FEDERATION, BANGALORE

The Federation has 371 Oil Seeds growers Cooperative Societies and 1,43,062 individuals as members covering 3245 villages. It has the total paid up share capital of Rs.179.11 lakhs.

As on 31st March 2011, the federation has made business turnover of Rs.12229.76 lakhs. Total purchase is Rs.8726.65 lakhs with operating profit of Rs. 670.07 lakhs. The federation has earned a net profit of Rs.426.66 lakhs.

THE CENTRAL ARECA AND COCOA MARKETING AND PROCESSING COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD.,MANGALORE(CAMPCO)

The CAMPCO was registered in 1973 under the K.C.S. Act, with the objective of arranging procurement, processing and conducting sale of arecanut and cocoa. This institution was registered again in 1988 under the Multi-state Cooperative Act, which extends its jurisdiction to Karnataka and Kerala State. However, for the purpose of purchase, processing and the sale of Arecanut and Cocoa and establishment of allied industries and Marketing of their products there are no restrictions of area of jurisdiction.

For Marketing of Chocolates, it has its own marketing team and has entered into an agreement with MIS, NESTLE India Ltd., for the manufacture and supply in bulk quantity of cocoa products.

The institution has a mobile procurement unit at Thirthahalli for extending service at the door steps of the farmers where there is no adequate transportation facility. It has opened a Research and Development wing for price behaviour analysis.

MALNAD ARECA MARKETING COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD., SHIMOGA(MAMCOS)

This society having jurisdiction of two Districts viz., Shimoga and Chickmagalur, was established in the year 1939. It has 19048 individual members and 20 co-operative society. The total paid up share capital is Rs 509 lakhs without any share amount from Government. The society has earned a net profit of Rs.200.00 lakhs as on 31/03/2011. The Society has 10 branches.

THE ARECA PROCESSING AND SALES COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD.,(APCOS)

The society was registered during 1973 extending its jurisdiction to three taluks of Shimoga District. The society has 5215 individuals and 41 societies as its members. The paid up share capital is Rs.68.98 lakhs. The society has a working capital of Rs.1457.59 lakhs. During 2010-11the total turnover made by the society was Rs.2843.25 lakhs. The society has earned a net profit of Rs. 30.00 lakhs as on 31-03-2011.

THE KARNATAKA STATE COOPERATIVE HORTICULTURE MARKETING FEDERATION LTD.,BANGALORE

The Federation was registered on 25/10/1996. The main objective of the Federation is to develop and encourage Horticulture, to arrange purchase and sale of Horticulture commodities and also for sale of processed Horticulture products, to supply seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other Horticulture implements, give financial assistance to the members of the Federation, provide foreign technology to encourage and develop the area of Horticulture. The area of operation extends the entire State. The Government of Karnataka has sanctioned Rs 30.00 lakhs as grant. The society has working capital of Rs.33,15,774 Lakhs, the paid up capital is 9 Lakhs.Top
